Students earn scholarship cash
Eight UW Bothell students will earn nearly $10,000 in scholarship money, because of their participation in the AmeriCorps Students in Service program.
The program encourages students to make a difference in their communities by agreeing to a minimum one year term of service at a community nonprofit agency.
During the 2009-10 program year over 1,000 Students in Service members in Washington and Idaho have contributed 520,200 hours of service.
That work earned students nearly $1.5 million in scholarships dollars, generating over $10 million in value to the communities they serve.
